Put on a catchy tune and play it full blast in the courtyard - and just watch the magic. For most of the kids dancing is like second nature and it takes less than a second for them to break into a Bollywood dance sequence. But talking about dance is like scratching the surface of the infinite creativity in the children at the home.
Arts, as a means to creative expression, plays a big part in growing up to become liberated individuals. That said, dance is probably the most popular of these. Many of the children are really good, and four of the girls now regularly receive training in dance from Danceworx, the dance studio of Ashley Lobo. One of Karm Marg’s prodigies is Anish, who now receives training from the much acclaimed dancer, Navtej Johar. Anish choreographs all the Karm Marg’s dance performances.
The other much loved activity is Street Theatre. The children conceive, script, direct and perform a couple of street plays every year. One of the venues is the Nature Bazaar at Dilli Haat. To contribute to this process and to let them explore their areas of specialization, the kids have music classes at Karm Marg twice a week.
